I am such a bad blogger! The last time I posted was right before the end of the school year craziness began, and then the summer craziness started. Now the back-to-school craziness is going on, but as I was digging around on my computer today, I found a pack of journaling masks I made awhile back and forgot to post, so I figured I'd take a couple of minutes to let y'all know that I am NOT dead... Yet.



These masks are made so that you can use them alone, or stack them on top of the the coordinating mask for a different look. They're CK OK, no credit required, so go ahead and use them however you like.

I know, I know... It's been awhile.

After Tiana got out of the hospital in January, I got really, really sick. What can I say, winter just isn't my season. My body needs fresh air and sunshine or it rebels against me. So I've been sick on and off (but mostly on) for about two months now. To make my life complete, all of the kids have been sick on and off (but mostly on) too.

We're all starting to feel better now though, and I've finally gotten the time and the motivation to do some designing.

I just released a really fun kit in the store. It's called Aliens Among Us, and it's the result of my creative team's constant nagging. Oh, did I say nagging? I meant suggestions. :D

It turns out that just about everyone on my team has children of the male persuasion, while I on the other hand have three girls. The result of this is that they want boy kits and I make mostly girl kits. I keep trying to convince them that flowers and ribbons are extremely manly, but they remain insistent. So for them, because I love them, I produced this:

Whenever I make a kit I always end up with a bunch of leftovers that don't make it into the final product. Sometimes I don't like how they work with the overall feel of the kit, sometimes I just have too many of a similar item and so I pick my favorites to go into the kit. Long time no blog! Wow have things been crazy for me with the holiday's. There are just too many things to do and not enough hours in the day to do them!

Sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday as promised. John took us to a festival downtown called Party on the Pavement, and by the time we got home I was so tired I just collapsed on the couch. We had a lot of fun! They had all sorts of fun activities for the kids, along with some good bands playing for the adults. I wish I'd brought my camera though. I missed some great photo ops of the girls when they got to meet a bunch of (very realistic looking) Star Wars characters.

Before we get to the glitter freebie, I want to make sure I give you a couple of links...

I've used the Amanda Rockwell brushes in a couple of my tutorials, so I should really link you up to them since they're one of the most awesome design tools out there. All of her products are fabulous (I'm totally in love with her overlays too) but my favorites are these brushes:

I don't take classes. I've been a graphic designer for over 10 years now and there just aren't many classes available that have a lot to teach me. I learn form reading trade magazines and from doing my own research and experimentation. When I hit a dead zone of design ideas a couple of months ago I decided to sign up for Amanda's Inside The Scrap Artist Studios program. It's $50 for a years worth of access to a private forum filled with tutorials. For that price you also get a $25 gift certificate to her store AND there are all sorts of CU freebies that she gives away with the tutorials each month! I know the price seems hefty at first, but it's really worth it in the goodies alone!

I've been doing the tutorials for about a month now, and I have to admit I've learned a few things. More importantly it's given me a ton of inspiration for my designs, which you'll see as soon as I release my upcoming kit - Jenna's Beautiful Word.
